Work collaboratively to provide strategic counseling to the University community regarding effective use of the World Wide Web, including policies, requirements, technical needs, and best practices in order to capitalize on the advantages of the web for Appalachian State University.

Objectives:

1. Identify and recommend strategic priorities for web-related technical initiatives.
2. Maintain the university’s Web Policy document and review and consider updates at least yearly.
3. Advise the Provost on best practices for web use in higher education and recommend which practices should be adopted by Appalachian.
4. Serve as a focus group to provide feedback for new web-based marketing and public relations initiatives.
5. Propose resolutions for:
   • Virtual URL requests; i.e., naming standards
   • Compliance findings of Web Administration Group
   • Policy revisions
   • Exemption requests to compliance with Web Policy
6. Facilitate communications to and from individual department unit(s) on issues related to the mission of this Council.
